Other Information : Served as a teacher 1929–36 and was associated with Congress. Responsible for political awakening of the people of Adivasi-infested Koraput district. Gave lead to people of Koraput district in the Freedom Movement. Imprisoned for one year during the Individual Satyagraha Movement in 1941. Under detention from 1943 to 1945 during the ‘Quit India Movement’. Secretary, Orissa Bhoodan Yagna Samiti 1958–61 and continued to be a Member, A.I.C.C. and Executive Member, P.C.C. from 1938–55. Has been a Minister for a total period of twelve years and the main portfolio was Revenue throughout. An expert in Revenue Administration of Orissa. Piloted Orissa Zamindary Abolition and Land Reforms Bill. Chief Minister, Orissa from February 1965
